Hi guys, Mima Here!
Today I am going to discuss my IT exam preparation steps. I am currently preparing for the CompTIA Linux+ exam.
Steps I discuss:
Choosing an IT exam to tackle
Researching the exam details
Selecting learning materials
Creating a study schedule
Note taking system
This will be a whole preparation!
Choose an exam to tackle:
I start by asking myself a few questions.
- What IT path am i aiming towards
- What skills would benefit me at work
- What exams do i have in mind already
I use Trello as my learning brain dump. Any certifications or skill I plan to acquire, i throw in here.
Gather Exam Details:
Once I have chosen the exam, I got to the vendor website to collect exam details. It is important to know the following:
- Subject topics
- Number of questions
- Types of questions
- Time limit
Here you can even schedule the test date!
Select Learning Materials:
Next step is find learning materials - everyone learns differently, its important to find a system that works for you.
I have 4 main materials that I use:
- Cert Prep Books
- CBTnugget video courses
- Simulators and Virtual Linux Labs
- Practice Tests
Create Study Schedule:
I them review my calendar and pick days that I am available to study without distractions. I add study entries to my calendar as a reminder. I then review the table of contents for the book and video courses and make a game plan for each lecture. This will help you stay on track!
Now you are ready to study grind!
I am planning on taking this test August 2020, wish me luck!
